Many of these students have gone on to thrive in promising careers within the aerospace industry and academia. What sets him apart in his field is his highly practical approach, actively involving students in captivating space research projects that yield tangible results, culminating in actual space satellite launches.

Moreover, Prof. Schilling has demonstrated his strong commitment to the international space community through extensive involvement in various forums under the aegis of the IAF (International Astronautical Federation). This enduring engagement and his subsequent recognition with the IAF’s prestigious “Distinguished Service Award” are a testament to his enduring dedication to advancing space exploration on a global scale.

The award will be presented at the occasion of the 74th IAF International Astronautical Congress to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan from 2 to 6 October 2023.
